How to: Resolve a sound card IRQ conflict.
Solution:
Open the 'Device Manager', and select the driver of the device conflicting with the sound card. Change the IRQ setting for the conflicting device to unassigned IRQ value, and restart Windows 95.
1) Open the 'Device Manager', and select the 'View devices by type' radio button.

2) Double-click 'Sound, video and game controllers' in the list box.
3) Double-click on the sound card driver.

4) Click the 'Resources' tab, and view the information in the 'Conflicting device list' area for the identity of the device that is conflicting with sound.
NOTE: Try to resolve the conflict by changing the IRQ setting of the other device.
5) Click 'OK', and double-click on the device type for the device conflicting with the sound card.
6) Double-click on the device driver for the device conflicting with the sound card.
7) Click the 'Resources' tab, and, if the 'Use automatic settings' check box is selected, clear it.
8) Select the 'Interrupt Request (IRQ)' resource in the 'Resource Settings' list box, and click 'Change Setting...'. (The 'Edit Interrupt Request' dialog box appears).

9) Select a new IRQ from the list of available IRQs in the 'Value' drop-down list box, and click 'OK'.
NOTE 1: If the 'No Modifications Allowed' message box appears, this resource cannot be changed by Windows.

NOTE 2: If the sound card and the other device conflicting with the sound card are legacy devices (using jumpers or switches to define resources directly on the hardware), please refer to the user manuals of the sound card and the device conflicting with the sound card for instructions to change hardware settings.
10) Click 'Yes' to restart Windows 95.
